Bill Schmeling was born in the United States in the first part of the XXe century. He started as a cartoonist under the pseudonym "Torro" then under the famous name of "The Hun". He is a recognized cartoonist since the 1960s. He lives in Portland (Oregon - USA).
The Hun has been one of the first gay artists to focus on human fluids in scenes of claimed brutality and extreme sexuality. He is in that sense totally unique.
Most of his characters are hyper-masculine hunks with and disproportionate muscles. They are often involved in scenes of extreme gay sex surch as sadomasochism, rape in prison, scatology, fetish...

Two characters emerge from his work. The fisrt one is Big Sig, a naive young man caught up in prison and other secured camp scenes. The second one is Gohr, a barbarian living in a brutal and hypersexual society.

Peruvian artist Palanca says about The Hun : "Formerly known as the Torro in the years during which he worked for the magazine Physique Pictorial, The Hun developed in his comics a wide range of male fantasies, where race relations are always held in places loaded with machismo, such as prisons, dirty suburbs and other battle arenas."
